Opal E. Adams, 89, formerly of Cowden passed away at 1:15 p.m. Saturday (July 19, 2008) in the Timber Creek Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Pekin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church, Cowden with Rev. Darrell Hinkle officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials may be made to The Gideons or the First Christian Church, Cowden. Arrangements are by Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden.
She was born December 7, 1918 in Holliday the daughter of Harry L. and Opal Marie Workman Riley. She married Paul R. Adams, January 8, 1938 in Springfield and he preceded her in death June 4, 1994.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Creve Coeur and 55-year member the American Legion Auxiliary, Creve Coeur.
Surviving are sons, James W. Adams, Sr. (Betty) of Creve Coeur, Charles L. Adams of Pekin and Paul R. Adams, Jr. (Glorianna) of Meadow Bridge, WV; brothers, Harry L. Riley, Jr. (Betty) of Buckeye, AZ, Billie D. Riley and Paul D. Riley both of Herrick; sisters, Ruth Adams of Morton and Rosemary Cosart (Herschel) of Effingham; 4 granddaughters; 4 grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters and 5 great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson.
