Katherine Louis Kirkbride, 93, of Pana, died Sunday, November 22, 2009, in Heritage Manor in Pana.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 28, in the First United Methodist Church in Pana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. An Eastern Star service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosamond Cemetery, Rosamond.

Mrs. Kirkbride was born August 10, 1916, in Assumption, daughter of Earl P and Mary E. Thurn Bilyeu. She married Loren John Kirkbride on June 16, 1940, in Assumption.

She taught in Assumption, Noblesville, IN, and Cairo. She taught in Pike School in Rosamond Township and later was a substitute teacher in the Pana School District.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pana and a former member of Rosemond Presbyterian Church; Rosalind Chapter #736, Order of Eastern Star, Owaneco; White Shrine; Christian County Home Extension; Tuesday Club; Home & Garden Club; and United Methodist Women.

Surviving are a son, John E. (Mary) Kirkbride of Tower Hill; daughters Marikay Fikan of Rosamond, Suzanne (William “Butch” ) Dooley of Nokomis; grandchildren: Doug (Audrey) Kirkbride of Pana, Marci (Kevin) Campbell of Shelbyville, Lucas (Stephanie) Kirkbride of Shelbyville, Chris (Shelly) Fikan of Rosamond, Rachelle (David) Wolf of Raymond, Michael (Jennifer) Dooley of Monticello; great grandchildren: Brandon, Natalie, Will, Curtis, Albert, Lizzy, Wade, Alyvia, Brianna, K.J., John, Bryce, Fallon (husband Mark), Tyler, Kyle, Trey, Kaneisha, Alexis, Peyton; brothers, Robert E. (Helen) Bilyeu of Assumption, Alfred T. (Clara) Bilyeu of Taylorville; sisters Gladys Anderson of Englewood, FL, Estella (Don) Sterling of Decatur; sister-in-law Edith Bilyeu of Pana; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two granddaughters: Jacqueline Kay Fikan and Tracy Lee (Dooley) Hoehn; brothers: Wallace Bilyeu, Donald Bilyeu and Duane Dale Bilyeu, sisters: Dorothy Brown and Virginia Kauffman.
