Hazel Maxine Vogel, 93, of Mode, IL, passed away at 5:16 PM Friday Sept. 14, 2012 in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL. 

Maxine was born Nov. 3, 1918 in Shelby County, IL the daughter of Frederick and Martha Jane Whitrock Smith.

She married Titus Franklin Vogel on July 5, 1940 in Stewardson, IL and he passed away Feb. 24, 1992.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson and the Ladies Aid of the Church.

Surviving are children: Gloria Bugenhagen and husband Paul of Stewardson, Anita Worthey and husband Dwaine of Louisville, IL, Ray Vogel and wife Debbie of Mode and Ralph Vogel and wife Sharon of Effingham, IL; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Callie Syfert and three sisters in infancy and a brother Fred Smith Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday Sept. 17, 2012 in Trinity Lutheran Church of Stewardson.  Pastor Richard Bremer will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 -7:00 PM on Sunday in Trinity Lutheran Church and one hour before the service on Monday in the Church.  Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery.  Memorials in Maxine’s honor may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Stewardson.  Arrangements are entrusted to Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.
