Dorothy L. Doeding Juhnke, 83, of Strasburg, IL, died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from noon-2:00 p.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Church Choir Fund or Church Organ Fund. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born on June 2, 1930 in Strasburg, Illinois, the daughter of Edward William and Amelia Sophia Vogel Doeding. She graduated from Strasburg High School in the Class of 1948. Dorothy married Paul Edward Juhnke on August 21, 1949. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, where she was active in the church choir. She loved to garden and loved her cats. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra K. Richards and husband Mark of Stewardson and Marcia L. Thomas of Strasburg; sister, Lela Ostermeier and husband Dwight of Strasburg; four granddaughters, Sarah Wyckoff and husband Ryan of Effingham, Laura Thomas and husband Dave of Troy, Amy Thomas of Urbana and Katie Thomas of Glen Carbon; and four great grandchildren, Leo and Maddux Wyckoff and Ava and Maleah Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, on September 24, 2011; and three sisters, Helen Buesking, Retha Schwartz and Juanita Weber.
