SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Greg Morris, 47, of rural Manito, passed away at 1:18 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.
Born May 15, 1965 in Pekin to George and Linda (Martin) Morris, Jr., he married Sherri Holmes on February 14, 1987 in Charleston.
Surviving are his wife; his mother of Topeka; 1 brother, Steve (Mary) Morris of Pekin; 3 sisters, Joy (Rick) Cobb of Mattoon, Theresa (Bob) Penson of Topeka, and Lisa (Derrick) Dunnigan of Manito; mother-in-law, Sue Holmes of Findlay, grandmother-in-law, Alta Holmes of Henderson, NV; 2 brother-in-laws, Clarence (Lori) Holmes and Jim (Teri) Holmes, both of Shelbyville; beloved nieces and nephews, Paul (Ashley) Cobb of Charleston, Shawnna (Jake) Sutton, Jason Drowns, Mindy Morris, and Stephanie Lowden, Budds Dunnigan, Stacy Dunnigan, all of Pekin, Amanda Sowers of Mattoon, Chris Holmes, Brandon Holmes, Autumn Holmes, Nate Holmes, all of Shelbyville, Justin (Sabrina) Smith and Tony Smith, both of Manito, Michael Penson, Whitney Penson, and Elanna Penson, all of Topeka; many beloved great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his dad, George; sister, Vicki Morris; father-in-law, Clarence Holmes, Sr.; grandparents, Frank and Ida Belle Morris and Melvin and Therese Martin; uncles, Jim Morris, Jack Morris, Duane Vaughn, Dave Lawson and Dave Dove; and aunts, Mary Heilman, Ruth Garcia and Virginia Lawson.
A graduate of Forman High School in Manito, Greg graduated from Lakeland College in Mattoon with an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology. Greg was a truck and trailer mechanic for Star Transport in Morton since 1994.
He was a member of the Lewistown Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman and loved his four-legged fur persons.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
