Shelbyville

Sarah Marjorie Hurst, 96, of Shelbyville, Illinois, formerly of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Shelbyville Rehab and Healthcare.

She was a devoted homemaker. She was born June 30, 1917, in Franklin, North Carolina, the daughter of the late James Eston and Albia Flora Ann (Carpenter) Littleton. She married Othal Oran Hurst on December 13, 1934, in Marshall, Illinois. He preceded her in death September 19, 1976.

Survivors include a son, John Hurst of Fennville, Michigan; a daughter, Dixie Warf of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, Chad (Leighsa) Cornwell, Dannis Warf, Dana (Judy) Warf, Dara (Clint) Johnston, Darin (Heather) Warf, Michael (Tiffiny) Hurst, and Alissa (Ryan) Gloeckler; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Cornwell, a son, Gale Hurst, an infant daughter, a granddaughter, Caprice Cornwell, four brothers, and two sisters.

Mrs. Hurst was a member of Paris Christian Church. She was a loving babysitter to countless children throughout the years and was known by many as "Grandma Marje." She was also a talented flower gardener and especially loved spending time with her family.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Paris Christian Church. SERVICE INFORMATION Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris. Burial will follow in Vermilion Cemetery.
