SHELBY COUNTY — Dorothy L. Beck

Herrick

85-year-old, Dorothy L Beck of Herrick Illinois, died Sunday, January, 13, at 8:25 a.m. in her residence, Herrick. 

Funeral services will be, Saturday, January 19 at 11:00 AM at the Herrick Baptist Church, Herrick, Illinois, with Jay Huddleston, officiating.  Visitation will be 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, January 18 in the Herrick Baptist Church, Herrick, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to Children's Miracle Network or Shriner’s Hospital.  Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick Twp, Shelby County Illinois.

Dorothy was born Saturday, April 16, 1927, in Aurora, Illinois.  The daughter of Charles L and Lillian  (maiden name Griesmann) Stearns. She was a graduate of East Aurora High School Class 45.  She married April 5, 1947, to Junior Lee Beck in Aurora, Illinois. Dorothy was a homemaker and later worked as a green thumb worker at Herrick Water Department, Herrick Elementary School Library also as a kindergarten teachers aid.

She is survived by daughters: Vicki (David) Rhoades of Herrick and Lori Black and companion Gary Pope of Herrick; son Randy “Guru” (Teresa) Beck of Herrick; sister Helen Latham of Omaha Nebraska; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on Sept. 20, 1985, one brother in infancy, and a daughter Cindy Beck, who died May 10, 1991.
