SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Kenneth Dale Arnold

Effingham

Kenneth Dale Arnold, 83, of Effingham formerly of Shumway passed away at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday (February 19, 2014) at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Beecher City with Curtis Graves officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery Shelbyville with military rites. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

He was born May 28, 1930 in Jackson Township, Effingham County the son of Otto and Electa (Largent) Arnold. He married Betty I. Brunk April 7, 1955 in Kentucky.

He graduated from Beecher City High School where he held the record in the mile run for 25 years. He served in the US Army as a medic during the Korean War stationed in Germany. He was a dairy farmer and retired from Bobber Truck Stop in Effingham. He was a member of the Effingham Church of Christ, NFO, Effingham Farm Bureau and formerly was a 4-H Leader. He enjoyed telling jokes, drinking coffee, being around people and spending time with his family, sons and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Betty; children, Rita (Mark) Miller of Sigel, Karen (Gary) Buehnerkemper of Effingham, Darrell Arnold of Effingham, Diane (Jason Alsept) Arnold of St. Elmo and Kevin Arnold of Effingham; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson, Stephen Arnold.
