SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Floyd B. Hinton

Tower Hill

Floyd B. Hinton, 76, of Tower Hill, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 in his residence. He was born July 15, 1937 in Tower Hill, IL to Felix & Neva Kelly Hinton.

Floyd graduated from Tower Hill High School in 1955. He had worked as a farmer for 30 years and had been a salesman for Moor Man’s Feed. He served his community for many years.

He served on the Tower Hill School Board for 18 years, and was a Cold Spring Township Trustee for 20 years. He was also on the Tower Hill Fire Protection District for 21 years and a Tower Hill Township Trustee for 13 years. Floyd was also a member of the Pork Producers Association, Shelby County.

He enjoyed watching westerns and rodeos on RFD TV, watching the Illini, drinking coffee at the café, visiting with friends at rehab, Sunday visits with Donnie & Brad, witching wells, hugs from waitresses at Hazel Mae’s, grilling, a good cup of coffee and a good steak, gardening, and his children & grandchildren.

Floyd married Doris Manuel on July 8, 1956. She survives in Tower Hill, along with their children: Rhonda Evans and husband Charlie, Shelbyville, IL ; Keith Hinton and Vesta, Pana, IL; Kenneth Hinton, Shelbyville, IL; Kellie Kuhn, Oconee, IL; Amy Coultas ajd husband David, Tower Hill, IL; and Patsy Chesterman and husband Chuck, Tower Hill, IL; grandchildren: Josh Evans, Chris Evans, Joya Evans, Zack Hinton, Shona Patton, Otis Hinton, Casey Jones, Jackie Thompson, Julie Letzkus, Joanna Kuhn, Abby Kuhn, Kyle Kuhn, Branden Coultas, Blake Coultas, Ben Chesterman; 17 great grandchildren; and sister: Lois Smith & husband Clarence of Brownstown. Floyd was preceded by his parents; brother, Larry Hinton; sister, Patsy Hinton; son-in-law, Kevin Kuhn; grandchildren: Stephanie Evans, Brandon Hinton, and Bronson Hinton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Tower Hill Fire Protection District or Pana Community Hospital Rehab/Wellness Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Derrick Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
