SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Betty Sparr

Shelbyville

Betty F. L. (Horsman) Sparr, 89, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 2:59 AM Saturday July 27, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Betty was born July 23, 1924 at Pana, IL the daughter of James Franklin and Vonnie Doner Horsman.

On April 26, 2013, Betty and husband Herman V. Sparr celebrated 66 years of marriage.

She graduated from Tower Hill, IL schools. Later she graduated from Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, IL with a degree in clerical and office occupations studies. After graduation, she worked at a wholesale jewelry company and then as a civilian contractor for the United States Air Force both in Chicago, IL. She, then, came back to Shelby County, IL and worked as a cook for the Herrick, IL School System then Craig and Craig Abstract Office in Shelbyville and ,finally, as an nurses aid in the Intensive Care Unit at Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Betty was a member of Moulton United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.

Surviving are her husband Herman V. Sparr; children: Dennis E. (Andrea) Sparr of Thunderbird Lake, Putnam County, IL, Donna (Ken) Casner of Williamsburg Hill, IL , Morris Byron (Jennifer) Sparr of Neoga, IL and Troy Sparr of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; one step grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Maynard Horsman, Wilson Horsman, Mason Horsman and in infancy, Charles Horsman and Thomas Horsman; sister: Lenore Mooney.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday July 31, 2013 in Lockart-Green Funeral home in Shelbyville. Pastor Howard Sallee will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of the service on Wednesday also in the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery on Williamsburg Hill, Cold Spring Township, Shelby County, IL. Memorials may be given in Betty’s memory to Moulton United Methodist Church in Shelbyville or Donor’s Choice.
