SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Juanita Marie Thompson

Windsor

Juanita Marie Thompson 80 of Windsor, IL, passed away at 5:15 AM Sunday Sept. 22, 2013 in the Odd Fellows Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.

Juanita was born August 22, 1933 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Charley and Edith Reisner Jones.

She married Virgil Mike Thompson on Sept. 11, 1955 near Arcola, IL and he passed away Dec. 24, 2012.

Juanita graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston, IL in 1950. She graduated from Paris Hospital School of Nursing in Paris, IL in 1953. She then earned a post graduate degree in surgical nursing in 1954. She was a nurse for over forty years, mostly at Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville, IL. Later, she served as the director of nursing in several area nursing homes.

She was a member of the Ash Grove Christian Church near Windsor.

Juanita’s first love was her family, and her passion was nursing.

Surviving are her children: Chuck (Becky) Thompson, Ken (Debbie) Thompson, , Joe (Tammy) Thompson and Doug (Brandy) Thompson all of Windsor; grandchildren: Michael Thompson, David Thompson, Stacey Rohdeman, Heather Trigg, Ashly Thompson, Barbie Nehrt, Stephanie Collins, Courtney Thompson, Amber Thompson, Bayleigh Tabor, Sydney Tabor and MaKenna Tabor; great grandchildren: Tyler, Albert, Max, Grant, Nevaeh, Austin, Alexis and Hailey; sister, Dorothy Honn of Charleston, IL and brother, Edward (Bobbie) Jones of Orlando, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday Sept. 26, 2013 in Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor. Pastor Jim Dona will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home and one hour before the service on Thursday. The family requests casual attire. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
