---- — Jeanne Bray, 91, of Jacksonville, died Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born February 21, 1922, on her family’s dairy farm near Maroa, the daughter of William and Margaret Gray Miller. She married Joseph Hubert Bray on October 24, 1946, in Springfield, and he survives.

Jeanne is also survived by five daughters, Kay (Wayne) Martin of Springfield, Susan Bray of Amelia, Ohio, Ann (Ken) McGinnis of Bath, Michigan, Jane (Boyd) Farmer of Seminole, Florida, and Patricia (John) Langdon of Jacksonville; twelve grandchildren, Pamela (Bob) Martin-Hull of Decatur, Amy Martin of Springfield, Lisa Martin of Jacksonville, Shannon McGinnis of Bath, Michigan, Brian (Lisa) McGinnis of Lansing, Michigan, Kevin (Amy) McGinnis of New York, New York, Patrick McGinnis of Bath, Michigan, Boyd (Lisa) Farmer, Jill (Steven) Rollo, and Brent Farmer, all of Seminole, Florida, Megan (Ryan) McGuire of Jacksonville, and Kelli Langdon of Chicago; and ten great-grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Miller, and two sisters, Margaret Wright and Martha Cox.

Jeanne graduated from Shelbyville High School and earned her Registered Nurse degree from St. John’s School of Nursing. She enlisted in the United States Army and served as a nurse at Ft. Bliss, Texas, where she met her husband Joe. Following her discharge from the service and marriage to Joe, the couple eventually settled in Jacksonville where Jeanne worked for the Visiting Nurses and as a school nurse. She retired from nursing in 1972.

In spite of her career, Jeanne’s main focus in life was her family. She was the devoted wife of Joe and dedicated mother to five active daughters. She enjoyed many travels with her husband, her relationships with friends, and the time she spent playing bridge. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and was adored by her grandchildren.

Jeanne spent the last year and a half receiving loving care from the staff at Mill Creek Alzheimer Center.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Church of Our Saviour, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends following a 3:45 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, until 7 p.m. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. John’s School of Nursing. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
