SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Lois Jean Means
Lois Jean Means (Woodruff), 78, of Decatur passed away at 8:22 a.m. Monday (August 12, 2013) at the Lincoln Rehabilitation Center in Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Glen Hoese, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Mode. Memorials in Lois’ memory may be made to her family for her monument.
She was born June 23, 1935 in Mode the daughter of Walter and Naomi (Walls) Nichols. She married Jesse H. Woodruff December 21, 1953 in Shelbyville. She then married Allen Means December 15, 2001 in Decatur.
She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband, Allen; daughters, Sonja Carroll of Decatur and Judy St. Hilaire (Greg) of Louisville, TX; sons, John Woodruff and Kevin Woodruff of Decatur; sisters, Violet Sullivan and Jenny Snyder of Decatur and Florence Smith of Shelbyville; 8 grandchildren, Pam, Donnie, Licha, Misty, Stephanie, Greg, Jr., Frankie and Lacey; 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Naomi Nichols, former husband, Jesse, son, Frank Woodruff, brothers, Bill, Johnnie and Max, and sisters, Vesta, Charlotte, Myrtle and Nellie.
Lois was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, always full of energy, high spirited, and church going person. She always was giving to others, putting them first. She will be greatly missed by family and all that knew her.
