Viola F. Duncan, 97, of Tower Hill, formerly of Pana, died Sunday, December 9, 2012, in Heritage Health, Pana.

She was born December 27, 1914, in Montgomery County to Byron Leon “Jack” and Iva S. McCain Adkins. She married Charles Henry Duncan on February 24, 1946, in Hillsboro.

She was a member of Beacon of Hope Free Methodist Church, Pana. She was a homemaker, but had worked in the Garments Factories in Pana and Nokomis and did housekeeping for others.

Surviving are children: C. Leon Duncan of Champaign, Lavinia (Charles) Jenkins of Tower Hill; grandchildren: Wesley (Christina) Duncan of Altamont, Jennifer (Bob) Northup of Carmi, Ross (Angela) Jenkins of Moore, OK; step-grandddaughter, Lana Jo Sumner of Springfield; great grandchildren: Myra, Logan, Allison, and Rayna; brothers and sisters: Edith Moomey of Herrick, Ruby Moore of Auburn, George Adkins of Sandwich, Glen (Yvonne) Adkins of Aurora, Roy (Genevieve) Adkins of Ohlman, James Adkins of Pana, Kenneth Adkins of Sandwich, Betty (James) Smith of Oconee, John T. (Pauline) Adkins of Monroe, WI; sisters-in-law Hazel Adkins of Canby, MN, and Ethel “Toots” Adkins of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Adkins and Howard Adkins, and sisters Lillian Markham and Rosa Scoughton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with Pastor Kurt Feneley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Free Methodist Church, Pana.
