Glen J. Boehm
Glen J. Boehm, 87, of Westervelt, IL. passed away at 1:04 PM Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in the Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville.
He was born May 2, 1926, in Prairie Township, Shelby County, IL the son of Glen Leon and Lydia Brandt Boehm.
He married Janet Kelly on June 8, 1946 in Shelby County, and she passed away October 3, 1993. Later, he married Pauline (Allen) Johnson on January 27, 1996 in Findlay, IL.
Glen worked in the Tool and Die Department of Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, IL. He retired in 1984 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 751 in Decatur.
Glen was, also, a member of Westervelt Christian Church where he served as an elder and teacher. He was a member of the Ridge Township board of directors for 23 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to bowl. After his retirement, he helped area farmers during their busy seasons.
Glen is survived by his wife Pauline; children: Carol Wharmly of Oxnard, CA, David (Sandy) Boehm of Oreana, IL, Mary (Gary) Perry of Mattoon, IL, Gerry (Teresa) Boehm of Shelbyville, Janet (Mike) Musser of Westervelt, Danny (Susan) Boehm of Shelbyville, Larry (Sally) Boehm and Lisa (Roger) Ballinger of Neoga, IL; step-children: Glen Johnson of Findlay, Stanley (Barb) Johnson of Shelbyville, Donna ( Mike) Oldham of Findlay, Kathy Swarms of Shelbyville and Virginia (Dan) Defend of Monticello, IL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; brothers: Harold (Jane) Boehm of Cowden, IL, Everett (Sharon) Boehm of Shelbyville, Ralph (Carolyn) Boehm of Herrick, IL; sister Margie (Jerry) Florey of Cowden and sister-in-law Viola Boehm of Cowden.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, son, Thomas, brother, Walter Boehm and step-grandson, Douglas Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Rev. Roger Quarton and Pastor Dean Cripe will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM Sunday to service time on Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Westervelt Christian Church.
