Betty Jean Otta-Garren, 88, of Decatur, formerly of Moweaqua, died February 26, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time.

Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua, IL.

Memorials may be made to Sanner Chapel United Methodist Church of Moweaqua. IL

Betty was born April 19, 1925 in Decatur, IL the daughter of William H. and Vera L. (Hoffhein) Lowen. She married Kenneth D. Otta in Decatur, IL August 6, 1944. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1988. She later married Thomas C. Garren.

Betty was a member of Sanner Chapel United Methodist Church of Moweaqua. She belonged to Macon County Lady Landowners, Staley Women’s Club and Decatur Kiwanian’s Club. Betty was retired from A.E. Staley.

Surviving are her son, William H. Otta of Macon, IL; daughters, Susan (Donald) Woodard of Decatur, IL, Pamela (Richard) Fossier of Indio, CA, and Linda (Douglas) Sloan of Taylorville, IL; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, two husbands and a grandson.
