John H. Spencer, 76, of Edwardsville passed away at 9:40 a.m. Monday (April1, 2013) at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Findlay with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Findlay Cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Hospice in Fairview Heights, IL or the Gideon’s International.

He was born August 2, 1936 in Shelby County the son of Johnnie A. and Pansy M. (Wiseley) Spencer. He married Mildred E. Rodman September 2, 1956 in Findlay.

He was a retired auditor of the Union Pacific Railroad and the State of Illinois. He served in the US Marine Corp .John loved to fish, golf and travel.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred; sons, Clayton L. Spencer (Jill) of Edwardsville and Christopher T. Spencer (Jackie) of Bethalto; grandson, Kyle Spencer; 3 step-grandchildren, Crystal and Russell Rosser and Jatanna Brink; 7 step great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Stevens of Decatur; half-brothers, Carl Spencer of Findlay and Rick Spencer of Katy, TX; step sister, Pam Howell of Findlay.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Don and sister, Janet.
