Roy Shuff

Shelbyville

(Continued)

SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

Roy was elected Mayor of Shelbyville in 2007 and served in this capacity until his death. While Roy was Mayor, the City of Shelbyville had many accomplishments, including the retention of International Paper, the opening of the Chapala Mexican Grill and the Downtown Streetscape Project. Roy enjoyed the Sister City Program with Okuwa, Japan and was a part of the Shelbyville delegation that traveled to Japan in 2008. Roy truly loved the City of Shelbyville and its people and took great pride in serving them.

Roy loved to play and watch every sport, with the exception of golf. When playing, he was a fierce competitor. Roy played on the Shelbyville Merchants fast pitch softball team for many years. He was a die-hard fan of the Illini, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Bears and USAC Open Wheel Racing. Roy took great pride and supported all of the interests of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; twin sons, Troy and Terry Shuff both of Shelbyville; daughters, Tracie Helton and husband Patrick and Tami Shuff all of Shelbyville; and four grandchildren, Charlie Shuff of Shelbyville, Jennifer Shuff of Charleston and her boyfriend Mike Boring, Hilary Shuff of Tower Hill and Sydnie Helton of Shelbyville. His beloved dogs Maggie, Molly and Dhasi will miss him greatly.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Fulte and Arthur Glen Shuff; and sister, Letha Fulte.

The family would like to thank Dr. Perry Guaglianone, Dr. Sebastian Kairouz, Dr. Marianne DePaz, the Nursing Staff of Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois in Decatur, Decatur Memorial Hospital 5100 Floor, Shelby Memorial Hospital and Lincolnland Hospice for their loving care.

Condolences may be sent to his family at www.howeandyockey.com
