Betty Maralene Chapman

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Betty Maralene Chapman

Upland, California

Betty Maralene Chapman, 87, of Upland, California, passed away October 7, 2013 in Claremont, California.

Betty was born March 8, 1926 in Shelby County, Illinois the daughter of Josiah and Carrie Walden.

She married Melvin Chapman on December 7, 1946. They were married for over 63 years. He passed away April 19, 2010.

Betty graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1943.

She was a mother and loving homemaker for family. She never stopped being Mother, and she proudly followed all the activities of her children and their families. She served as PTA president, room mother and team mother countless times. She was strong willed and could be a bit stubborn at times.

Surviving are children: Rodger Chapman of Phillips Ranch, California, David Chapman of Upland, California, Bradley Chapman of Upland, California and Teresa Parks of Covina, California; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Orda Doty and husband Harold of Peoria, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her parents and brothers: Gerald Tull, Earnest Walden, Boyd Walden and Jack Walden.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, October 21, 2013, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
