SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Ellen May (Jo) Lawyer

Formerly of Windsor

 

Ellen May (Jo) Cole Lawyer, 67, of Columbus, MS, formerly of Windsor, IL, passed away at 6:39 PM Saturday April 27, 2013 in Columbus Memorial Baptist Hospital in Columbus, MS.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday May 3, 2013 in Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor, IL Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of the service on Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, IL

Jo was born August 9, 1945 in Windsor, IL the daughter of Harold (Buck) and Eula Fay Camic Cole.

Jo was a loving wife and homemaker. She and her husband Ron moved several times to locations in Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi and Maryland as they followed Ron’s work in heavy, industrial construction.

She graduated from Windsor High School in the Class of 1963.

Jo and Ron resided in Columbus, MS for the last sixteen years. She attended the Methodist Church in Columbus until she suffered a stroke in August of 2006.

She married Ronald Lawyer on January 17, 1965 and he survives. Also surviving are children: Lesa Sims of Troy, IL, Lance Lawyer and wife Crystal of Olmsted, IL and Larry Lawyer and wife Dina of Cumberland, Maryland; six grandchildren: Cohren Sims, Joel Sims, Alesha Sims, Garrett Lawyer, Nathan Lawyer and Makayla Lawyer; sister Nancy Metcalf of Port Orange, FL; aunt Treva Cole of Windsor and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Cole and sister Phyllis Seals.
