L. Fay Rich


L. Fay Rich, 81, of rural Herrick died Saturday, June 22, 2013, in her home.

She was born January 23, 1932 in Oconee Township, Shelby County, the daughter of Lonnie O. and Hattie L. “Lula” Jones Beck, deceased.

Fay was a graduate of Herrick High School and lived in the Herrick area most of her life except for a short time in Decatur.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Herrick; American Legion Auxiliary, Herrick; Arcana Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Pana and formerly a member of Herrick Eastern Star and held offices in all organizations which she had been a member. She also served on the cemetery board and was treasurer of Buchanan Cemetery and was a member of Shelby County Farm Bureau. Fay liked to play dominoes and work cross word puzzles, but mostly enjoyed going to rodeos to watch her grandson, she was a rodeo grandma.

Fay Beck became the bride of Glenn L. Rich on January 28, 1950, in Pana. He preceded her in death in April 1982.

She is survived by her son Lonnie Rich and wife Cindy and her grandson Douglas Rich, all of Herrick.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 27, 2013, in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Buchanan Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Eastern Star rites at 8:00 p.m..

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Herrick; American Legion Auxiliary, Herrick or Arcana Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
