Elizabeth Lois “Betty” Glasscock, 87, of Gays IL, passed away at 8:45 PM Friday April 18, 2014 in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL  

Betty was born Mar. 9, 1927 in Harristown, IL the daughter of Leland and Christenia Monical Bissey.

She married Jack Eadie in 1949 in Decatur, IL and he has passed away in 1975.  She married George R. Glasscock in 1984 in Dyersburg, TN and he passed away in 1999.

Betty loved family, friends and life.  After graduating from high school, Betty attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL and then later graduated from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.  Her entire teaching career in the Findlay, IL School District. She taught kindergarten and vocal music for 26 years before her retirement in 1982.  Betty was a life member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.

She was an active longtime member and organist of Smyser Christian Church near Gays, IL. Also, she was a member of the Sullivan R.S.V.P , American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post #68 and V.F.W Women’s Auxiliary Post #6410 all  of Sullivan, IL.

Betty loved music and the arts.  She played the violin, keyboards and other musical instruments, and with her friends, made the rounds to area nursing homes to provide entertainment to the residents.  She was a patron of the Little Theatre in Sullivan, IL where she attended many performances.   She spent many of her winters in Gulf Shores, AL, and with fellow musicians, performed and entertained at Gulf Shores States Park.

Surviving are her children: Mark (Patty) Eadie of Arcola, IL, Christine (Fred) Tippit of Findlay, IL, Dane (fiancée Angie Holt) Eadie of Sullivan, IL and Ross (Marilda) Eadie of Mattoon, IL; twelve grandchildren; twenty- six great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Eadie and George Glasscock; grandson: Kevin Eadie; brothers: E.T. “Bud” Bissey; sister:  Mary Gambril and foster brother; George Bissey.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday April 23, 2014 in Smyser Christian Church near Gays, IL.  Pastor Richard Coen will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the time of the service on Wednesday in the Church.  Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday April 26, 2014.  Memorials may be made in Betty’s memory to Smyser Christian Church.  Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with arrangements.  Online condolences:
