Shelbyville

Ronald Leon Armer, 86, of Shelbyville, IL, died 2:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
 
Cremation rites will be accorded.   There will be no services.  Memorials may be made to Shelby County Humane Society.  Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL will be handling the arrangements.
 
Ronald was born March 31, 1927 in Red Boiling Springs, TN, the son of Bedford and Estelle (Bean) Armer.  He married Bertha Hosmer on October 30, 1953 in Toledo, OH. 
 
Ronald was a farmer, retiring after many years.  Prior to farming, he was a machinist at Dolar Jarvis.    Ronald was a U.S. Army, WWII veteran and a member of V.F.W. in Findlay, IL.
 
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bertha of Shelbyville; children Pauline (Jim) Johnson of Glendale, AK, Tim (Virginia) Venzke of Shelbyville, IL, Ken (Mary) Armer of Toledo, OH, Paul Venzke of Freemont, IN, Nancy (Tomas) Cuellar of Shelbyville, IL, Peggy Sue (Harold) Lawson of Shelbyville, IL, Dawn Armer of Alexandria, LA; sisters and brothers Eileen (Father Jay) Eyler of Las Vegas, NV, Andrew (Joanne) Armer of Flora, IL, Jeanette (Dwaine) Thorneburg of Cerro Gordo, IL, Ben (Linda) Armer of Sullivan, IL, Tom Armer, Cheryl Armer, both of Mt. Zion, IL, Sarah (Lynn) Dolan of Normal, IL, John (Connie) Armer of Bethany, IL, Mary (Jerry) Dunn of Tarares, FL; 42 grandchildren and 81 great grandchildren; and longtime beloved friends Junior and Wilma Lutz and family of Findlay, IL.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty, brother Sid, brother James, sons Ronald Leon Armer, Jr. and Mike Armer.
