SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Melba M. Ruff

Strasburg, IL

Melba Maurine Ruff, 76, of Strasburg, IL, was called to her Heavenly home at 7:08 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday and one hour before services Saturday, both in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Ladies Aid.

Mrs. Ruff was born on August 20, 1937 in rural Windsor, IL, the daughter of Clarence A. and Celia F. Kull Schultz. She graduated from Windsor High School in the Class of 1955. Melba began working at CIPS in Mattoon, IL. She married Donald D. Ruff on February 10, 1957 in Strasburg, IL. Melba and Don farmed together in rural Strasburg until their retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL, where she was active in Ladies Aid and held many offices over her years of service. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Janice (Mark) Moomaw of Stewardson, IL, Ronald (Ginniveve Reinhardt) Ruff of Ruidoso, NM and Lisa (Bryant) Kennell of Eureka, IL; grandchildren, Adam (Alyssa) Moomaw of Sullivan, IL, Zachary Moomaw of Mattoon, IL, Erin, Austin, Ryan, Logan and Dustin Kennell all of Eureka, IL; great grandson, Owen Moomaw of Sullivan, IL; and brothers, Ralph (Helen) Schultz of Strasburg, IL and Ervin (Martha) Schultz of Lexington, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Kristin Moomaw.
