Ruth was born on February 29, 1920 in Shelby County, Illinois, the daughter of Roy Edward and Tenna Anna Holmes Syfert. She married Charles Mason Reed on May 30, 1942. Ruth was a homemaker and babysitter in early years. She loved to bake and cook. She was well-known for her pies, noodles, and sugar cookies (which were cut out and decorated). Her cinnamon rolls and twists were delicious, along with, when we all got together and made, her homemade doughnuts. Ruth loved spending time with family and friends. Her faith was her passion, she was a member of Mode United Methodist Church. She earned her 50 year pin, for perfect attendance, attending Sunday school. Ruth loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved to decorate the house and bake her famous sugar cookies for the holidays.
