Arthur Eichner

TUSCOLA, IL. — Arthur L. Eichner, 79, of Tuscola, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL, with his family by his side.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Tuscola First Christian Church, 100 East Church Street, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Bob Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.

Art was born on March 5, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the son of Morris and Rose Cepin Eichner. He married Doris A. Duzan Foltz on December 11, 1977 in Champaign, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughters: Cindy Eichner of Sullivan, IN, Ginger (Mike) Campbell of Camargo, IL, step-son: Gary (Marney) Foltz of Tuscola, IL, step-daughter: Rhonda (Gary) Alfredson of South Elgin, IL, sister: Lauri (Jerry) Jaffee of Niles, IL, grandchildren: Doug Foltz, Carrie Bubb, Amy Alfredson, Josh Eichner, Erin Davis, Kelsey Alfredson, Jeremiah Lochenger, Alana, Mackenzie and Payton Campbell, great-grandchildren: Will Foltz, Kate Foltz, Sam Bubb and Kameron Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Jerry Eichner.

Memorials are suggested to the Tuscola First Christian Church Benevolence Fund.

Art was a true entrepreneur, he worked for Combined Insurance Company for 16 years and owned and operated Video Junction in Tuscola for several years. He was a member and served as the benevolence deacon at the Tuscola First Christian Church for many years. He was a former member of the Shelby County Board, where he served as chairman of the Shelby County Health Department and Solid Waste Committee. He was a former member of the Lion’s Club. Art served during the Korean War as a member of the US Marine Corps. He enjoyed fishing, playing games and putting together puzzles. Art enjoyed helping people and he loved his family very much.
