SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
John G. Gingrey, 74, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:07 AM Tuesday Nov. 19, 2013 in the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville.
John was born April 28, 1939 in Pana, IL the son of Floyd Earl and Letha Gertrude Watts Gingrey.
He married Nancy Johnson on Feb. 14, 2004 in Shelbyville.
John graduated from Pana High School in the Class of 1957.
He served his country in the United States Army.
John was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Shelbyville and affiliated with the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville.
John was employed as a shipping manager at Warner Ishi (IHI Turbo) where he retired in 2003. Formerly, he worked at Mississippi Valley Steel in Decatur and the Clinton Power Plant in Clinton, IL.
He was a talented bowler and enjoyed golf and camping with family and friends. Whenever possible (almost always) he attended his grandchildren’s ballgames. He loved, and was devoted to, his family.
Surviving are his wife Nancy; daughters: Tonya Lynch of Shelbyville, Debbie (Dana) Beaumont of Shelbyville; sons: Alan Lanham of Orting, WA, Garry (Karin) Lanham of Neoga, IL, and William Thomas (Jane) Johnson of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Sloane, Emric, Seth, Chase, Brock, Callen, Aaron, Whitney (Nate), Ryan, Ashley and Deserae; great grandchildren: Ciara, Lexi, Lana, Lane, Hunter, Jaxon, Carter and Gracie; brothers and sisters: Thelma (E. (Wes) Koontz Pana, IL, Delmar E. Gingrey of Siloam Springs, Ark, Max H. ( Rena) Gingrey of Aurora, IL, Larry F.(Rita) Gingrey of Dallas, TX and Joyce A. Baylor of Muskogee, OK; sixteen nieces and nephews and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Floyd E. Gingrey, Eugene Gingrey and Donald L. Gingrey,
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, in the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. Pastor Greg Breeden will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorials may be made in John’s memory to the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville and the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
