McClain high school medals

Amanda McClain (Okaw Valley '15) earned 15 state medals in high school, 6 state titles, as a prelude to her MVC conference titles and ISU school records. As a junior, she recently won the MVC Indoor long jump championship.

The most celebrated track athlete from the Shelby Area, Amanda McClain is still leaving her mark in the college ranks.

On March Amanda McClain won the MVC Women's Title in the Long Jump (19-10.25) and was part of 4X400 meter relay team that placed second (3:43.66). She was named to the Women's All-MVC team as well.

McClain also took 1st in the long jump at the EIU Early Bird Indoor, the site of all her state records and medals from high school while at Okaw Valley. She jumped 19 feet, 6.25 inches.

McClain also won the long jump at the Grand Valley State Meet going 18-11.75.  Her career high is 20 feet, 3 inches.

McClain was part of the 1st place 4x400 relay this winter at the Illini Classic. Her team ran 3:51.33 for the honor. They went 3:43.66 at the MVC Championships to place 2nd.

McClain ran the quarter this wintyer and placed 2nd at the MVC Championships in the prelims (56.9). In the final she improved (56.7), but placed 5th. McClain's career best 400 is 54.64.

The 200 meters was an event at the Illini Classic where McClain placed 3rd (25.11).  Her career best in the 200 meters indoor is 24.66.

McClain and the ISU track team begins their outdoor season at Vanderbilt University in Nashville on March 23, 24.
