Moulton baseball ran their record to 8-2 as Malcolm Miller (4-0) threw a 2-hit shutout at home against Sullivan in three innings, 15-0.
Miller accounted for seven of the nine outs in the 15-run shortened 3-inning game. He KO'd three of the four batters he faced in the 1st and three of the four he faced in the 2nd. He rang up one more in the 3rd.
The opposing pitcher, Johnson, reached on an error with one out in the 1st and stole 2nd. But Miller struck out the next two batters on just seven pitches.
Shelby came to the plate and wasted little time getting on the board. With one out, Thai McNeese reached on an error. Miller singled and Grant Mose was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With two outs, Isaiah Bruder came through with a 2-run single for the early lead.
Miller walked the first batter in the 2nd, Atchison, and he stole 2nd. No matter, Miller KO'd the next batter on a 3-2 pitch. He then rang up the next two batters on the minimum required number of pitches.
Shelby upped the ante in the 2nd. Harrison Wooters led off with a double. Rece Pullen singled Bruder across and Wade Johnston singled Pullen in. Kentrell Beck smacked the fourth straight hit.
A balk moved the two runners. McNeese walked to load the bases for the second straight inning. Miller, the sixth batter of the inning still with no outs, blasted a base-clearing double for a 7-0 Ram lead.
Mose reached on an error and stole 2nd. Braydon Vice grounded out, but drove in a run. Mose scored on a passed ball, 9-0.
Sullivan tried to get on the board again in the 3rd. They came close, but its not horseshoes. MIller rang up the first batter on three pitches. A ball was hit to Trey Ruot at 2nd and he made the play.
With two outs, the opposing pitcher, again, hit a single and stole 2nd. The following batter singled, but the run did not score. He stole 2nd.
Miller walked the next batter and Sullivan had the bases loaded with two outs. The next batter got a piece of one, but it was tracked down by Ruot at 2nd, who made the play.
Shelby needed one run for the 10-run rule to come into play or six runs to wield the death blow. They got the latter.
Pulen, Johnston, and Beck hit consecutive singles for the second straight inning. Beck knocked the 10th run in. With one out, Miller reached on an error and got to 2nd. He stole 2nd and scored on a passed ball.
With two outs, Vice walked and Bruder walked, Vice stole 3rd. Wooters singled a run in. Passed balls put Bruder on 3rd and Wooters to 2nd. Pullen walked. Bruder scored on another passed ball for the walk-off win, 15-0.
Five Rams hit safely and also had multiple hits. Miller and Wooters hit doubles. Nine Rams scored and five had multiple scores. Miller reached base and scored all three times.
