Moultrie Douglas struggled early this summer (0-9), but is above .500 since then (5-4), including knocking off Mattoon on Thursday, 7-5.

The stat line was fairly even at the end of the game. However, Moultrie Douglas took a lead, got caught, then had a rally to re-establish a lead and held on for the win.

Dalton Rogers was the Mo-Do starter. He gave up a lead-off single, but the runner was caught stealing 2nd and the batter grounded out. After a walk A pop out ended Mattoon's 1st.

Moultrie got on the board first in the 1st Mike Miller led off the bottom of the inning with a walk. Tanner Coleman walked. With one out, Quienton Helmuth doubled Miller home.

In the 2nd, Rogers threw a K. and gave up one single, but no scores. Ian Hill singled for Mo-Do in the 2nd, but was stranded. Mattoon went in order in the 3rd, all on ground outs.

Mo-Do upped the ante in the 3rd. Tanner Coleman led off with a single. Taylor Coleman doubled him home, 2-0. Helmuth walked and stole 2nd, while Coleman stole home, 3-0. Mattoon went in order in the 4th on three flyouts. Schlabach walked in the Mo-Do 4th, but was left on.

In the 5th, a lead-off single. a stolen base and an error, and a ground out got Mattoon on the board, 3-1. Mo-Do went in order in the 5th and Mattoon tied the score in the 6th.

Mattoon led off with a double. Rogers threw a strikeout, then two walks. With the bases loaded, a single scored two runs, 3-3.

In the bottom of the 6th, Tommy Schibur led off with a single and stole 2nd. Spencer Johnson sacrificed him to 3rd. Schlabach singled him home for the lead, 4-3.

Hill doubled and Miller was intentionally walked to load the bases. Schlabach scored on a wild pitch, 5-3.Tanner Coleman walked to jam the bases. Taylor Coleman singled two runs across, 7-3.

Helmuth singled, but a runner was out at home. Hill was thumped but a line-out with the bases loaded ended the rally.

Rogers threw out the first Mattoon batter in the 7th, but walked the 2nd. With two outs, Helmuth was on in relief. Branson launched a 2-run home run, making it 7-5.

Helmuth gave up two more singles, then threw the game-ending strikeout.

Six Mo-Do batters hit safely and three had multiple hits. Taylor Coleman was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in 3. Helmuth was 2-for-3 with a double and Hill was 2-for-3 with a double.
