CHBC staggered Louisville in the first 8:00 and North Clay could never overcome the damage. CHBC stayed in control until the final buzzer, cruising in the final frame and still winning by 12, 60-48.
In the final game before Christmas break, the CHBC Hornets broke out early, going on a 26-8 run in the first 8:00. Louisville mustered a strong recoil effort in the second but was only able to shave 4-points off the 18 point lead and still trailed 38-24 at the break. Out of ther locker room, CHBC put it on the Cardinals again, this time a 16-8 run to extend their lead to 22 points heading into final frame. CHBC dialed it back and Louisville cut the lead down to a dozen before singing their swan song.
The Hornets had balanced double figured scoring from four players. Senior leader Hillary Shelton led the cadre with 15 points, gutsy floor player Courtney Myers with 13, freshman center Micah Jones with 12 and shooter Faith Wendte with 10. Key were the CHBC threes. Shelton canned two, Myers rang up two more and Wendte buried two from downtown. Louisville had just one trey.
Matching the top four scorers from both squads, CHBC's crew out-scored the Cardinal quartet 50 to 42. Louisville got just six more points from one other player, while the Hornets got 14 points from a compliment of four other role players. CHC also had an advantage at the line. The Hornets shot 10-of-16 from the stripe and Louisville just 3-of-9.
CHBC (7-4) is off until the Dieterich Holiday Tournament, beginning December 28.
