A to Z, Raiders Nipped

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — A&M girls competed for four quarters, but got nipped in each period and lost to Mt. Zion, 59-50.

The game came down to just four more field goals for Mt. Zion, a trio of twos and a trey. The two teams were both 14-of-18 at the line.

Mt. Zion won the 1st 11-7 and the 2nd just 15-14, to lead by five at the break, 26-21. The 3rd period was another Mt. Zion edge to stretch the lead to eight points, 39-31. Down the stretch the Raiders pushed by still get get over the hump, losing the 4th by a point and the game by nine.

Ryan Dooley had another big game, following up a 28-point performance against Nokomis by scoring 25 points. She scored 10 times from the floor, one a trey. She also made 4-of-6 free tyhrows.

However, she was the only Raider in double figures. Mikah Maples had nine points with one triple and 4-of-4 at the line. Taylor Jordan had just one bucket, but got to the line for six free throws, making five.

Mt. Zion was led by Probst with 21 points, including a trey. Their other double-digit scorer was Rothrock with 13 points, connecting twice from the arc and making 5-of-6 at the line.

Mt. Zion's top two scorers had 34 points and A&M's two top scorers had 33 points. Mt. Zion edged them again just enough.
