Another record crowd came out to CCD as Tony Lyons of Ashkum, IL in his 87 Mustang was on fire this past weekend.
Tony entered 2 classes on Saturday and 2 classes on Sunday, winning 3 of those classes and a semi-finalist in the 4th class. On Saturday in the JT Muffler Q330, it was Dana Kutz of Arcola in his 2012 American Dragster, taking home the win over Bill Roth of Olney.
Super Pro saw Eric Rayburn of Champaign, IL getting a flat and missing 1st round, but still taking home the win thanks to many friends at the track helping out. Bob Paul of Westfield, IL had the plugs to repair the tire and got beat in the finals.
Tony Lyons beat Travis East of Casey, IL in his 87 Mustang in the Pro category. The Midwest Index Series had a great turn out with Scott Bunge of Champaign stealing the show with his 100 ft wheel stand in his 65 Nova Wagon, but losing in the 1st round. Steve Hoch of Tolono, IL in his 68 Vette took home the win in the Hoch 6.50 Fun Street Class beating Tom Franks of Homer, IL in his 87 Mustang.
In the 7.00 Index Class it was Lloyd McVey of Fithian, IL in his 64 Savoy taking home the win over Jeff Young of Sidel, IL in his 70 Nova. The Keep it Kleen & Running Strong 7.50 Index class saw series sponsor Kevin Hunt of Decatur, IL in his 70 Dart beating friend Rob Nevius of McLean, IL in his 67 Chevelle.
Sportsmen saw Clayton Patrick of Charleston in his 99 Camaro beating Andy Ruff of Mattoon in his 05 Rumble Bee Ram. Novice Street saw Ronnie McDade of Monticello, IL in his 87 Mustang beating Bill Berbaum of Champaign in his Dodge Caravan.
On Sunday Bob Paul took home the win in Super Pro beating Holden English of Metcalf, IL in his 87 Charger. As Holden went to stage his car the throttle linkage came off giving Bob a automatic win.
In Pro, Tony Lyons went to his 2nd final round of the weekend and defeated Kim Niemeyer of Humboldt in his 97 Mustang. It was during the Pro Finals the English Racing Team got Holden’s Hot Rod fixed as he met Tony Lyons in his 3rd final round of the weekend in Sportsmen. Tony Lyons took home his 3rd win of the weekend beating Holden English in Sportsmen.
The Clinton All Out (CAO) is a group of Hot Rod enthusiast who came to CCD to testing their drag racing skills and it was Erik Ziegler in his 83 S-10 beating Jim Fable in his 68 Dart.
