Shelbyville falls to Neoga

---- — Shelbyville girls played a make-up game at Neoga Saturday morning and the matinee went to the home team, 59-46.

Lindsay Burton, Shelby’s 1000-point scorer led the Lady Rams with a 15-point performance, giving her 1043 points for her career. She added 12 boards for yet another double-double.

Fellow Stew-Stras co-op Grace Schuler stepped up again with 13 points (1-3), four boards, a team-high three assists and a team-high five steals. Another Stew-Stras co-op roundballer, Autumn Carson, had eight points (2-3s), four boards, two assists, and a steal.

Neoga had three players in double figures accounting for 47 of their 59 points. Elecia Thies led the way with 17 points including a trey hat trick, followed Deters with 16, all from the floor, and Butler with 14, six scores from the floor and two of the four Neoga free throws.

Neoga posted a 5-point lead in the 1st, 14-9. Shelby couldn’t hang on to Neoga and the indians opened up a 17-point lead by the half with 20-8 run, 34-17. Neoga continued their mastery in the 3rd with a 21-9 run and was up by 29 points heading into the 4th, 55-26.

The Indians called off the attack in the final frame and Shelby broke out on their own 20-4 run. They trimmed the deficit down to 13 points by the closing bell.

In the JV game, Shelby lost in the 2nd half, but Morgan Powers erupted for 17 points, 13 in the 1st half. She led Shelby to a 22-20 half-time lead. Neoga clamped down in the 2nd half and held the Rams to just eight points.
