---- — Shelbyville went to Maroa on Friday night and were stymied, 53-39, then returned home on Saturday to lose their rematch bid against NTC champion Altamont, 57-49.

Maroa shut down the Rams. They held the Ram big men to just six points combined. That put pressure on the outside shooting. Shelby did make five triples, but it couldn’t offset the lack of field goals inside and out.

It was a defensive game. After a modest Maroa 12-5 lead in the 1st, Shelby battled in the 2nd. They trimmed the lead to six points at the break, 24-18.

Maroa rushed the Rams in the 3rd with a 17-7 run to lead 51-25 heading into the 4th. Considering the defensive nature of the game, Shelby had a long way to go in 8:00. They battled again, but could only cut the final margin of defeat to 14 points.
