---- — Prior to Christmas break Shelbyville 7th grade basketball hammered the Cowden-Herrick Hornets, 35-20.
It was a 6-6 Miller draw in the 1st period. Malcolm Miller three buckets for the Rams and Nick Miller had three buckets for the Hornets. After the Miller 1st, Malcolm Miller got on a roll and led the Rams to a 21-6 run.
Miller, who had scored all six Ram points in the 1st, scored five times from the floor in the 2nd. He got to the line three times, making 4-of-6 shots, for 20 1st half points. Harrison Wooters made two fouls hots and a basket, Wade Johnston added a deuce and Brett Kennell made 1-of-2 free throws for a 27-12 Shelby lead.
Shelby stayed in control in the 3rd, but called off the dogs, limiting themselves to a 6-1 run. Malcolm Miller scored twice from the floor and made both his free throws.Nick Miller split a pair of free throws and that was it for C-H.
In the final frame, down 33-13, Cowden-Herrick reeled off a 7-2 run to cut into final margin. Zack Burks scored twice, Deven Burks made 1-of-2 foul shots, and Trace Smith had a deuce. Kennell had the only Ram score.
