Ram 8th Clobbers Clinton

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Moulton 8th grade ran their record to 6-1 last Saturday with a home-opening win over Clinton, 40-25.

Shelbyville started slow and let Clinton take a 10-2 lead. Only Tylr Gottfriedt scored in the 1st period, sinking both his free throw attempts. Cltinon had four field goals and a pair of free throws.

The Rams shook off the cob webs in the 2nd and after scoring just two points in the 1st, scored 22 in the 2nd, blitzing Clinton with a 22-11 run.

Payton Howell hit a trey and then a deuce for five of the 22 points. Daythan Summers hit a triple. Gottfriedt split a pair at the line, scored a two and then sank two free throws to also score five points in the run.

Turner Pullen got on the board by converting a 3-point play, then a second bucket for another five points in the run. Cade Watson added a two. Shelby was up by three at the break, 24-21.

Shelby screwed down the defense in the 3rd and shut out Clinton on a 10-0 run, out-scoring Clinton 32-11 in the middle quarters and taking a 13-point lead heading down the stretch, 34-21.

The 4th quarter Shelby held Clinton to just four points, as Gottfriedt and Pullen capped the scoring with all six Ram points late.
