SS/W Splits With Dieterich

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Stew-Stras/Widsor 7th grade girls (14-5, 6-1 NTC) got another win on Tuesday beating Dieterich, 29-16, while the SS/W 8th took a hit, losing to Dieterich, 27-14.

SS/W opened with a 7-4 run and kept their foot on the accelerator with back-to-back 10-2 runs for a 27-8 lead going into the 4th. They cruised the last 6:00 and Dieterich cut the 19-point lead down to 13 by the final buzzer.

Megan Schlechte led SS/W with a game-high 15 points, followed by Katrina Davis with eight.

It was the flip-side of the coin in the 8th grade, as Dieterich opened with a 12-0 run and handled SS/W with back-to-back 5-2 runs to lead 22-4 heading into the 4th. SS/W finally wriggled free and won the 4th, 10-5, but the hole was too depp and they still lost by 13.

Davis led SS/W with six and Madison Everett had four. Shadle led Dieterich with nine.
