CHBC Frosh Finish Tourney 7th

CHBC hosted a fresh-soph tourney over the weekend and won their final game to finish 7th. CHBC lost to Altamont, 51-24, and to Pana, 55-9, but pulled out a win over Alton Marquette, 47-41.

Felicia Johnson was untouchable in the 7th place game, leading CHBC with 27 of their 47 points. Johnson scored nine times from the floor and was also a perfect 9-of-9 from the foul line.

Johnson’s performance and the Hornets foul shooting was the difference in the game. CHBC was 13-of-18 at the line (72%), while Marquette made just 3-of-14 (21.5%), missing 11 free throws in a 6-point loss. Emma Wehrle and Hope Barnes followed with seven and six points, respectively.

CHBC trailed by three points after the 1st, 12-9, in the see-saw game. A 9-4 CHBC run in the 2nd gave them the lead at the break, 18-16. Alton broke open the game with a 17-6 run in the 3rd to take what looked like a game-changing, 9-point lead, 33-24. However, the Hornets answered in crunch time with a 23-8 run, erasing the 9-point deficit and winning by six.
