Ram Contends With Clinton

The Shelbyville Lady Rams celebrated their five seniors, then kept having accordion catch-ups after falling behind. The Rams didn't go away and did not allow Clinton to blow them out, losing by just 11, 65-54.

Clinton started with a 9-0 run, but the Rams pushed back to trail by just three at the end of one, 14-11.

They fell behind, 26-14, in the 2nd, but closed the gap again to seven at the half, 35-28. However, early in the 3rd the Rams made it a 3-point game, 35-32.

Clinton went up by 14, 52-38, at the end of the 3rd and had a chance to score again, but were turned away at the buzzer.  Clinton built the lead up to 19 points with 3:00 to play, but the Rams finished with a 10-2 run against the league leaders.

Senior scoring leader Lindsay Burton pushed her career total to 1026 points with a game-high 15 points and 10 boards for a double-double. She scored seven times from the floor and added a free throw and three blocked shots.

Pick pocket Grace Schuler scored 10 points, with two steals for scores on inbound plays, plus a 3-pointer and 3-of-6 foul shooting. Schuler also dished a team-high seven assists and had a team-high four steals. She had just one turnover.

Senior Bri Ruff stepped up her scoring on Sr. Night with seven points, hitting jumpers. So did senior Olivia Williamson, scoring three times and grabbed six boards with two assists.

Senior Courtney Schultz had a two and used her compliment of fouls playing hustling defense. Autumn Carson scored two buckets and had seven boards and three more blocks.

Clinton had balanced scoring with three players with game-high 15 points and one with 14.

The Rams missed some lay-ups in the 1st that would have given them the lead through the first 8:00. They didn't score until the 4:14 mark, when Burton converted a 3-point play, 9-3.
