SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Ram JV baseball (1-3) picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, hosting and toasting Hillsboro in five innings, 14-1. The Ram JV played Mt. Zion Wednesday and lost, 15-5.
Ryan Stenger threw a 1-hitter with 12 strikeouts in five innings and Hillsboro's one run was unearned. Stenger saw three batters in the 2nd and rang all three up. He faced four batters in the 5th and rang up three of them. He had three Ks in the 1st, two in the 4th and one in the 3rd, when the Rams sent Hillsboro down in order.
Meanwhile, the Rams rattled the bats for 10 hits. Sheldon Meyer went 3-for-3 with a double two runs and two RBIs. Foster went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Tyler Hendryx 1-for-1, reached base all three times, scored all three times, stole two bases and hit an RBI-triple. Brown was 1-for-2 with two scores and and two RBIs, Garrett Brachbill was 1-for-3, scoring two times. Bart Kennell was 1-for-3 with an RBI-single.
After Hillsboro drew first blood in the 1st on two walks and a fielder's choice, the Rams responded with two runs. Brachbill lead off, reaching on an error. Hendryx walked and Brown drove in Brachbill on a ground out. Meyer dobled Hendryx home, 2-1 Rams.
Stenger KO'd all three batters in the top of the 2nd and the Rams added to their lead. Stenger and Foster started it with back-to-back singles. Jordan Smith drove Stenger in with a ground out and Reedy sacrificed Foster in, 4-1 Rams.
Shelby retired Hillsboro in order in the 3rd on a strikeout, a fly out to Reedy in left, and a walk. The runner tried to steal 2nd, but Brown threw him out. The Rams then opened the can of whoop'em in the 6-run 3rd.
Hendryx drew another walk, stole 2nd and 3rd. Brown singled him in and Meyer singled. Kennell reached on an error. With two outs, Foster hit a 2-run single. Smith, Reedy, and Jarnagin reached on three consecutive errors, 10-1 Rams.
Stenger walked two in the 4th, but Smith caught a fly ball in center and Stenger rang up the other two batters. Shelby threw more dirt on the Hillsboro grave in the 4th.
Brachbill led off with a single and Hendryx followed with an RBI-triple. With one out, Brown walked and Meyer singled inHendryx. Kennell singled in Brown. With two outs, Foster drew a walk and Smith walked, but they and Kennel were left on, 14-1 Rams.
With the early dismissal in play, Stenger rang up the first batter in the 5th on four pitches and KO'd the second batter on three pitches. With two outs and a no-hitter in play, Hillsboro cranked a double. Stenger then punched the next batter out on three pitches for the win.

Shelbyville (1-3) played at Mt. Zion on Wednesday and lost in five innings, 15-5.
"We actually hit well and are improving," said Ram coach Ryan Scott.
Six Rams hit safely and Ryan Stenger led the way, going 2-for-3. Patch and Brown hit solo doubles.
