W/SS Tramples Riders

SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

On the heels of losing just their second game of the year, Windsor/Stew-Stras took it out on Arcola on Thursday, trampling the Riders 10-1.

W/SS made a down payment on the whoopin' with a solo run in the 1st. White kept the Riders out of the saddle until W/SS erupted in the 3rd for a 5-run rally. White stymied Arcola agin in the 4th and then called it a day. His team added another run to his lead, making it 7-0 to start the 5th.

Arcola finally got on the board to ruin the shutout, but that was all they accomplished. 

Aaron White won his third game of the year against zero losses, throwing a 2-hitter through four innings and striking out 11. Meanwhile, the W/SS hit squad pounded out 12 hits, including a solo home run by Hayden Cole in the 6th inning. W/SS put up another 3-run rally in the 6th and the Riders had been rode hard and put away wet in the 7th.

Four W/SS hitters had multiple hits. They were led by Cole, who went 3-for-3, scored once and drove in four runs.Alex Allen went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Christian Vonderheide was 2-for-3 with three runs and Brandon Helmuth had one of his best games at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

W/SS (7-2) was to play Friday at Casey.
