BCCH Softball Falls To 0-3

SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

BCCH was 0-1, then they faced Effingham St. Anthony on Monday and Effingham on Tuesday to fall to 0-3 (0-2 NTC). St. Anthony drubbed BCCH, 21-0, and Effingham 10-runned BCCH, 14-4.

Nakayla Walsh threw a 1-hitter for St. Anthony through four shut-out innings, striking out just two. Kristen Schuette allowed one more hit ans struck out two in inning. Heather Lawrence and Autumn Riley accounted for those two BCCH hits.

Against Effingham, BCCH finally rattled the bats for nine hits. Effingham had just two more hits, despite winning by 10 runs.

BCCH drew first blood with a solo run in the 1st, but Effingham answered with two runs and never trailed after that. Effingham was up 4-1 after two and 7-1 after three. BCCH got a run in the 4th, but Effingham got it back in the bottom of the inning, 8-2. BCCH got two runs in the th, but Effingham got three, 11-4. BCCH had no answer in the 6th and with a 3-run rally in the bottom, Effingham earned the early dismissal, 14-4. 

Autumn Riley and Heather Reed led BCCH in hitting, both going 2-for-3. Riley scored once and drove one run in. Five other Eagles hit safely, Amanda Pierce, Haven Lorton, Kirby Herrmann, Kacie Hilt, and Alicia Adams. Herrmann drove in two runs and Pierce scored twice. Herrmann took the loss for BCCH, while Deedra Myers got the Effingham win, allowing five hits and striking out four.
