Okaw Valley Breaks Through

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Okaw Valley volleyball was 0-5, but close. On Thursday they notched their first win of the season before a raucus home crowd, throwing the Arcola Purple Riders, 25-21, 25-22.

"Okaw Valley came out swinging and didn't look back," said Okaw coach Jody McCormick. "In a packed gym of rowdy fans, the Timberwolves proved they have what it takes to bring the heat. I'm looking forward to carrying the momentum to the tournament in Windsor on Saturday. The win feels good and I am very happy for the girls and excited to play the next match."

It was a Dash to the finish once again, as senior Shelby Dash recorded 10 digs and sophomore Megan Dash registered 14 net points with nine kills and five blocks in the 2-game set.

Senior setter Mollee Decesaro was the third Timberwolf to go double-digits, dishing out 12 of the 14 Okaw assists. The offense set 14 assists towards the 16 kills.

Okaw defense accounted for 25 digs and a total of seven blocks.

Okaw Valley (1-5, 1-2 LOVC) plays at the Windsor Invite on Saturday.
