Rams Corral Clinton

Shelbyville (2-4) was hungry for a homecoming win, while Clinton (1-5) was just looking for a bus home, especially after the Rams turned a couple of Maroon quarterbacks black and blue in the 40-8 blowout.

"The defense played great," said Ram head coach Mark Ramsey. "We still had a lot of penalties (10 for 80 yards) and fumbles, but our offense is getting better."

The Ram defense was stifling. They held Clinton to negative 30+ yardage rushing and just 70 some yards passing and most of that on one play.

Clinton scored their only touchdown, a 54-yard TD pass from their starting quarterback in the 1st period. In the 2nd quarter, that quarterback was knocked out of the game by a stiff Shelbyville rush.

The Rams had 15 tackles for loss for a total of 97 yards. Mike Ulrich had eight tackles, four for losses totaling 31 yards. Jared finley had six tackles, two for losses totaling 19 yards. Adam Hudson had nine tackles, two for losses totaling -8 yards.

Elliott Smithson had two tackles for loss for 9 yards total. Matt White had a 10 yard tackle for loss. Lucas Duckett had a sack for 6 yards. Garrett Ferguson had a one yard sack and Luke McConnell a 3 yard tackle for loss.

Except for a safety early in the 2nd quarter, Clinton didn't score again, despite some good field position.

Shelbyville threw an interception on their first drive and Clinton scored on their next possession, beating the Ram defender on a long pass down the sideline for a 54-yard score, 6-0.

Shelbyville had given up yet another big play. But it would be the only one in this game.

Shelbyville scored on their next possession, going 62 yards in six plays. Tice Robinson sparked it with a 23 yard run up the middle. Duckett wnet 10 yards on a scramble and Tyler Hendryx ran a sweep for 23 more yards to the Clinton 5. Robinson ran it in on eht enext play through the middle, untouched, and Dylan Patch kicked the extra point, 7-6 Rams.
