SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
The co-op sophomore caught fire in the 3rd period. She trained two triples, scored a deuce, then sank another 3-pointer for 11 points, the most of any player on Central A&M or Shelbyville, in a quarter.
Carson finished the game with a team-high 15 points, including a trey hat trick. She didn't just shoot. She had a team-high five assists, three boards, two steals and a blocked shot.
In the 3rd, A&M just out-scored Shelby just, 20-18. Jordan didn't score for A&M, but Dooley had two scores, competing a 3-point play. Gibson had another trey and hennings scored Maples coverted a 3-point play and Hilton broke out for three scores. Sparrgrove added 1-of-2 free throws.
In addition to Carson's 11 points, Williamson dialed up one from long distance and Burton and Ruff had solo scores.
Shelby was still down by 47 points to start the 4th, 84-37. A&M called off the dogs and Shelby trimmed the final margin with a 13-7 run.
Burton scored three times, Carson, Ruff, and Jami Hennings once, each. Hennings added a free throw to make the 50-point mark. A&M had just three scores in the 4th, a third trey from Gibson and two buckets from Sparrgrove.
A&M had five players in double figures. Jordan led with 19 points, incuding a trey hat trick. Dooley had 18 points, including 4-of-5 at the line. Hennings had 13 points, Gibson had 11, with her own trey hat trick, and Maples with 11, including 3-of-4 at the line.
Shelby had two players in double figures, Carson with 15 and Burton with 11. Carson and Burton's 26 points came after the initial 35-6 Raider blitzkrieg.
Shelbyville (4-6, 1-3 Okaw) plays at Meridian on Monday, while Central A&M (8-3, 2-1 Okaw) hosts Mt. Zion on Saturday and travels to Maroa on Monday.
