Down the stretch run of the regular season, CHBC played three matches in three nights.
CHBC 7th lost to Stew-Stras, 25-14, 21-25, 21-25, and St. Anthony, 25-17, 25-14, They beat St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-16, 25-22. CHBC 8th lost to Stew-Stras, 14-25, 25-21, 25-21, then won their 8th grade night by beating St. Anthony, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20. They dropped their final regular season match to St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-14, 25-22.
In the three 7th grade matches, Tabitha Endlsey led CHBC from the line. She had seven points, four aces v. Stew-Stras. She had seven points, two aces v. St. Anthony. She had eight points, one ace v. St. Elmo/Brownstown.
Three different teammates followed her in leading the team in those three matches. Grace Smith had five points v. Stew-Stras, Lauren Wojcik had five points v. St. Anthony, and Kara Cedar had seven points v. St. Elmo/Brownstown.
The 8th grade Hornets were led down the stretch by the play by various players. Against Stew-Stras there was a balanced attack. Haley Atchley led with 11 points, 2 aces, followed by Tia Howell with nine points, two aces. Jenna Wojcik and Taylor Oldham had seven points, each. Wojcik had two aces and Oldham one.
In the win over St. Anthony, four players again used balance scoring to get the 3-game win. Hannah Barnes served 11 points with 4 aces. Taylor Oldham served nine points with one ace. Howell and Jenna Wojcik served eight points, each. Howell had one ace and Wojcik two.
In the final regular season match, ST. Elmo/Brownstown held CHBC down. Sara Stephens stil led CHBC with five points, one ace. Atchley and Barnes followed with four points, each. Atchley delivered 2 two aces.
CHBC 8th (3rd seed) begins postseason play on Saturday against Arcola (#6) at 11:30 a.m. at Paris Crestwood. The winner plays the winner of Arthur (#2)/Paris Crestwood (#7) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
