Shelbyville Moulton volleyball, who came into the Tuscola East Prairie Regional with just a 9-8 record and a #3 seed, upset Paris Mayo (#2) in the semifinal on Tuesday, 25-21, 25-19.
“Once the girls started playing, they did great,” said Ram 7th coach Elizabeth Fanning. “They really worked together in that 1st game to come back and win. I am very proud of these girls and am looking forward to Thursday’s game.”
Shelbyville was to play top-seeded, home team, Tuscola East Prairie, in the regional final on Thursday.
Two, almost three, Lady Rams had double-digit performances in the upset. Isabel Logue led at the line and in quarterbacking the team. She served 12 points with two aces and dished out seven of the nine assists. She also had one of the nine team kills.
Hannah Kemp followed with 10 points and shared a team-high four aces. She also shared a team-high two kills and recorded one of the team’s six digs. Jayde Fox served nine points, also with a team-high four aces. Morgan Parsons and Cassidy Tucker swung for two kills, each. Elizabeth Bowyer and Lauren Russell added the other two kills. Bowyer led the defense with two of the six digs.
