A&M Takes OVC Runner-Up

LAKE SHELBYVILLE — St. Teresa captured the Okaw Valley Confernce girls title on Friday with Central A&M winning the battle for runner-up status.

St. Teresa scored 102 points to win the championship. Central A&M edged out Monticello for the 2nd spot 85 to 82. Sullivan-Okaw Valley was a close 4th with 79 points and Shelbyville girls were 8th, scoring 23 points.

Central A&M had 16 individuals and relays score. They had two 1sts, three 2nds, three 3rds, two 4ths, three 5ths, and three 6ths.

Ryan Dooley had both 1st place finishes for CAM, sweeping the hurdles. She also was the anchor on the 2nd place 4x4 relay (Paige Seitz, Kylee Burcham, Mikaela Cole, Dooley) and on the 4th place 4x1 relay ((Dooley, Katie Conlin, Mikah Maples, Jorji Sparrgrove).

Sparrgrove and Maples were runner-ups in the 400 and the discus. Maples was also 3rd in the shot put.

Salena Sloan was 3rd in the mile. The CAM 4x8 relay (Seitz, Abby Forlines, Cole, Bucrham) also finished  3rd.

Morgan Damery was 4th in the shot put and Mikaela Cole was 5th in the pole vaul and Forlines was 5th in the high jump (4-10). The CAM 4x2 relay was 5th (Kaitlin Villanueva, Maples, Conlin, Seitz).

Villanueva made it to the 100 hurdles finals and placed 6th, as did Burcham in the 800. Seitz was on three scoring relays and was 6th in the 300 hurdles.

SOV tallied more 10 individuals and relays scores. They had more 1st place finishes than CAM, but didn't have as many score and that left them six points behind CAM.

Emily Neuhauser not only won the 100 dash, but beat her teammate Amanda McClain for 1st in the 200 dash. McClain was 2nd by .15 seconds.

McClain won the quarter in a record time (57.70) and won the long jump with a great jump (17-8.5). The SOV 4x2 relay (Neuhauser, Ashlynd Risely, Mollie Bowman and McClain) finished 1st again.
