Warrensburg rolls over Raiders

Central A&M finished week seven this past week with a loss to the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals with a score of 44-27.

Head coach Nate Graham said before the game Friday that the Raiders will have to come out and play hard from the start even against a team that has struggled to win games this season. The Cardinals went into the game with a record of 1-5.

The Raiders were not able to slow down the Cardinals in the first quarter though allowing 14 unanswered points.

Cardinals’ running back Daniel Belcher had a goal line 3 yard run for a touchdown. Belcher finished the game with 95 yards on 11 carries.

Overall, the Cardinals as a team rushed for 337 yards behind carries from Travis Rigg and Austin Rucker.

The Cardinals failed to complete a pass throughout the whole game, but it did not seem to matter.

While the Cardinals capitalized on the running game, the Raiders were able to show their passing ability.

Raiders quarterback Miles Neilson threw 2 touchdowns in the game. One pass was in the second quarter for 36 yards to Kohlby Ohl. The other touchdown was in garbage time in the fourth quarter to Jason Pokalsey for 63 yards. The running game for the Raiders was effective, but not as effective as the Cardinals. The Raiders only rushed for 183 yards as a team compared to the Cardinals 337.

Graham said that even though the team has struggled this season he is proud of his team for never quitting.

The Raiders go back on the road this week against a highly favored Maroa-Forsyth team. The game is at 7 p.m. in Maroa. Maroa-Forsyth comes in undefeated sitting at 7-0.
